Key findings (Nov 2026)
- AC replacement: mainland metro mid estimates span about $1,067 from Sebring ($4,894) to San Jose ($5,961). Equipment dominates the bill.
- Plumber labor: drain cleaning mid estimates roughly double from Hot Springs ($97) to San Jose ($213).
- Roofs (2,000 sq ft): state metro averages from about $22,020 (MS) to $31,098 (NJ).
- Metro vs nonmetro: AC averages only ~$92 apart; labor-heavy jobs show a wider gap.
- Heat pump vs furnace: heat pump mid estimates run well above furnace replacements in every Census region under our job assumptions.
